Literally in name only, VMTurbo is no more. It’s now Turbonomic. We noticed the name change on the Inc. 5000 list last week, but the details weren’t loudly broadcasted. Turbonomic made its soft debut on August 17 via its website and a LinkedIn post from its chief marketing officer. And here’s what you need to know.
According to Turbonomic, the new name is a blend of three main pillars of the company’s value proposition:
Turbo = Fast.
Economic = Our economic to analyze real time application demand and automate the allocation of underlying infrastructure supply. This enables large enterprises to guarantee application performance while maximizing infrastructure efficiency – for any workload, on any architecture, across any virtual or cloud infrastructure.
Autonomic = Like the autonomic systems in your body that regulate your heart rate without you thinking about it, our platform ensures that complex virtualized and cloud based environments are kept in a perpetual state of health, which is more scalable and effective that the traditional methods of monitoring, break/fix approach- which ultimately isn’t guaranteeing application performance.
“Our vision and mission remain the same as they have always been,” Geeta Sachdev, Turbonomic’s CMO, wrote in a LinkedIn post. She added that the name better reflects its core values and what it strives for in the future.
As mentioned earlier, the name change comes at the same time as being named to Inc.’s list of fastest-growing companies for the second year in a row. Inc. estimated Turbonomic's three-year growth at 954 percent.
The Turbonomic rebrand is reminiscent of the one Catalant - formerly HourlyNerd - went through a month ago. In both cases, the new names are portmanteaux of the companies' values and were adopted in times of significant growth. So which Boston company is next to jump on the rebrand bandwagon?
